Sunlit Forest

'Sunlit Forest'  14x11  acrylic on linen panel  © Trish King Slaven 2010

Today, I thought I would share with you my latest work.  This painting was inspired by the late, morning light shinning through the trees last August.  It was one of those mornings that one slowly breaths in the morning air and smiles at the warmth of the sun.  I hope this brings a ray of sunshine to your day.  : )

Morning Bliss

Morning Bliss

Oh...how I love mornings...this scene is across the road from my house. It was so beautiful that November morning.  I have been working with a limited palette lately, which seems to help me to capture the natural colors better while still expressing the mood of the scene.

Cumberland White Caps

Cumberland White Caps

5x7 Acrylic on canvas panel © Trish King Slaven 2010

This scene is located above the hand quarried stone bridge just up river from the Cumberland Falls. I was inspired by how the water was churning as it made its way down river to the Falls. When the water is up from excessive rains, the Cumberland River flowing with all its raging force can be a site to behold.
